OnePlus announced its 150W SuperVOOC fast charging technology at MWC 2022.
OnePlus 150W SuperVOOC fast charging technology announced
The 150W SuperVOOC charging technology developed by the OPPO Research Institute will be seen on a OnePlus smartphone in Q2 2022. There’s no word on what this phone will be called, but we speculate it could be the OnePlus 10 Ultra. OnePlus says the super-fast charging is enabled by a customised twin battery, industry-leading battery PCB protection board, and a highly integrated microcontroller to improve overall charging efficiency. Additionally, the 150W SuperVOOC tech boasts a Bionic Electrolyte technology that helps the battery cell self-healing process improve battery health and performance.
The company claims that its 150W SuperVOOC can charge a 4,500mAh battery to 50 percent in just five minutes of charge. OnePlus says the phone’s battery health will hover around 80 percent after 1,600+ charge cycles, thanks to the OPPO Research Institute’s self-developed Smart Battery Health Algorithm. Furthermore, the Smart Battery Health Algorithm tracks and controls the maximum charging current for safety purposes. Lastly, the company mentions that the 150W SuperVOOC supports fast charging for tablets, laptops, and mobile gaming consoles.
Earlier today, Realme also announced its own 150W UltraDart charging technology, which will debut on the Realme GT Neo 3. Realme’s solution is similar to OnePlus’ 150W SuperVOOC technology in that Realme is also claiming up to 50 percent charge in 5 minutes. Moreover, Realme claims the battery will retain 80 percent health after 1,000+ charge cycles.
