Xiaomi currently offers a 120W HyperCharge solution and it is currently the fastest in the market. The brand offers this ultra-fast charging tech with its top-end flagships like the Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge, and more. However, it appears the company is trying to take fast charging to the next level as a new report has emerged that suggests Xiaomi developing a 150W charging solution. This comes at a time when Realme is also said to be working on 150W charging tech alongside an 80W solution for later this year.
As per a report by MyDrivers, the 150W fast-charging solution from Xiaomi could debut on the MIX 5 later this year. The report doesn’t tell us exactly how fast the 150W charging will be compared to the existing 120W solution. We can speculate the charging time will be significantly lesser. Given how the Xiaomi MIX series packs in all the cutting-edge technology, there are chances the 150W fast charging solution may be bundled with the forthcoming Xiaomi MIX 5 lineup.
Considering that Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge solution is claimed to charge a 4,000mAh battery in around 13 minutes, we can expect the charging time to be under 10 minutes with the upcoming 150W tech. How much impact this will have on the battery life is something that needs to be seen only when the 150W solution is made available on a commercial device. For now, it is interesting to see how crazy the charging speeds are getting on smartphones but we only wish OEMs offer durable battery units as well.
