Upcoming electric cars in India in 2022: Tata Tiago EV, Renault Zoe, Mahindra eKUV 100, and more

  2022

Electric cars are yet to be widely adopted in India and are far from being the preferred choice of most people when purchasing a car. This is largely due to the concerns over the EV infrastructure, performance, and maintenance of electric cars, as well as the premium asking price. It looks like all this is about to be changed in 2022 as several manufacturers, including Tata, Renault, Mahindra, and Volvo, have lined up their respective electric cars for the Indian markets. These electric cars will cater to budget as well as premium segment buyers in the country. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at the upcoming electric cars in India that are rumoured to launch in 2022:

To target a wider audience, the prices of electric cars need to come down. That’s exactly what Tata is aiming for with its Tiago EV. This budget-oriented hatchback will offer a similar powertrain as the Tigor EV but may undercut it in terms of pricing, opening up more choices for the potential customer. The battery pack in the Tiago EV will reportedly provide a range of up to 310km on a single charge.Top features

The Tata Tiago EV will be a hatchback, with an automatic transmission and a five-seat capacity. Being a budget-oriented electric car, Tata Tiago EV is likely to miss out on fast charging support, which means the owners will have to reside with the normal charging speeds that could take around 7 to 8 hours for a full charge. Speaking of full charge, the Tiago EV is likely to last around 100 km with top speeds of 135 km/h.
